Week 7-Long Piston With Cam
Aim: To perform a transient analysis on a piston and cam mechanism model
Procedure:
The analysis we are doing is a transient analysis and structural steel is the material chosen

(Structural Steel)
Before we can begin analysis we need to create a model with the given dimensions but since the model is already given it is imported using the import option in the geometry and the model is checked for any imperfections

Once the model is updated, contacts have to be established the contacts are flipped and are named based on the definition, and contact is frictionless

The fixed joint is provided for the ground to the barrel and the revolute joint is provided for the ground to the barrel cam and translation joint is provided for barrel to cam follower
Meshing is done on the component

After the meshing is done the model is set for boundary conditions

Results
For Frictionless
1:Directional deformation

2:Equivalent Elastic strain

3: Equivalent Stress

4:Contact pressure

For Frictional 0.1
1:Directional deformation

2:Equivalent Elastic strain

3: Equivalent Stress

4:Contact pressure

For Frictional 0.2
1:Directional deformation

2:Equivalent Elastic strain

3: Equivalent Stress

4:Contact pressure

Conclusion:
On comparing the three results it can be observed that deformation is same regardless of frictional coefficient where as strain value increases with increase in friction similar case holds true for stress as well
