Week 7-Long Piston With Cam
Long piston with Cam
Objective:
To perform a transient analysis on a piston and a cam mechanism I need to run analysis with frictionless contact, frictional contact with frictional coefficient of 0.1,0.2 for the following cases.
Procedure:
Importing the given geometry and assigning material for the geometry. now we need to give connections between the cam and the barrel as well as cam to shaft, the contact is kept as frictionless.

now we need to give a revolute joint for the camshaft and a transitional joint for the cam follower.

now we need to generate a mesh with element size of 3mm using face sizing option.

In analysis setting the number of steps is off 8, and we need to turn on the large deflection. now we need to add a joint load of rotation type.

Conclusion:
From the above table we can see that the equivalent stress, strain add directional deformation increases in frictional coefficient. the total deformation remains constant at for all three cases.
