Radar Mast & Final Assembly of Yacht

MODELING OF YACHT

INTRODUCTION:

In this project we learn about the design and assembly of Yacht using solidworks.

The Yacht components which are modeled using solidworks are as follows;

  • Propeller
  • Radar
  • Hull
  • Front seat
  • Middle seat
  • Rear seat
  • Superstructure
  • Radar mast
  • Garage door

DESIGN APPROCH AND METHODOLOGY:

Tools used While creating yacht model are as follows:

SURFACE SWEEP:

Surface sweep is a feature Used to do a sweep using Sketches which are closed.

SURFACE LOFT:

It is a feature which is used to loft the edges of the surface and make it into a surface body.

SURFACE FILL:

This is the type of feature used to Fill be open surface and make it into a closed one.

SURFACE TRIM:

Surface trim is used to remove unwanted surfaces that cause overlap of surface bodies.

RULED SURFACE:

Ruled surface is used to extend the surface bodies by selecting one of their edges.

SURFACE KNIT:

Surface knit is a feature That knits the surface bodies with the tolerance of 0.1.

SURFACE EXTRUDE:

This feature is used to extrude any surface by their appropriate dimensions.

BOSS EXTRUDE:

This feature is used to extrude solid bodies with appropriate dimensions.

CUT EXTRUDE:

This is a feature that is used to cut any solid body.

REVOLVE BOSS:

Revolve boss is a feature that makes solid bodies in revolving type like propellers.

PROPELLER:

Propeller is a device that gives swift motion to the Yacht in order to move forward.

First we sketched the dimensions on the right plane and then we created a revolve boss base . The blades are created on the new plane Using lofted boss base. Then we do a cut extrude operation, We use circular pattern to replicate the blades then we give and appearance of custom brown to the whole body.

The features used in this operation are:

  • Sketch
  • Revolve base
  • cut extrude
  • lofted base
  • circular pattern
  • Fillets

RADAR:

Radar is a part of the yacht used to detect anomaly below the sea. The radar is sketched using the dimensions and then boss extruded and fillets are applied. The bolt is created using polygonal Shape and then it is mirrored in linear pattern. then the whole solid body is mirrored. Then we do a cut extrude on the bottom face. The text is added on the front face and the whole body is given an appearance of white color.

The feature used in the operation are:

  • boss extrude
  • cut extrude
  • mirror
  • linear pattern
  • Mirror
  • Fillets
  • Text

HULL:

Hull is the fully covered body or base of the yacht. According to the blueprints we created the sketch , We used projected curve to create a surface Loft . After creating the boundary surfaces we trimed unwanted surfaces and filled the top part of the surface. Then we created windows using this sketch and by using boss extrude staircase is created. On the bottom plane grids are created using solid reverse offset. Then we mirror the whole solid body to the midplane. Then we use appropriate apparence to the body, then we add decals to the stairs and floor.

The feature used in the operation are:

  • Surface sweep
  • surface trim
  • surface loft
  • Fillet
  • Knit surface
  • Surface extrude
  • surface fill
  • ruled surface
  • Boss extrude
  • Cut extrude
  • Spine
  • Projected curve
  • Shell
  • Mirror
  • split body
  • linear pattern
  • Surface body

GARAGE DOOR:

The garage door is a part of the hull, which was split and made it into a solid body. First we give particular dimensions and then we perform a cut extrude operation Then we apply fillets and mirror it to the midplane then we add text and give the appearances.

The features used in the operation are:

  • Cut extrude
  • Text
  • Fillet
  • Mirror
  • Appearances

FRONT SEAT:

The front seat is created on the surface body of the Hull, Using the blueprint sketches we create a surface sweeps Then we trim unwanted surfaces . since there are gaps between the surfaces it is filled using surface loft and then knitted, then fillets are added, Then the surfaces are converted into solid bodies and then mirrored to the midplane, the appearance of white color is added.

The feature used in the operation are:

  • surface sweep
  • surface trim
  • surface loft
  • Fillet
  • Spine
  • Mirror
  • knit surface
  • cut extrude
  • Boss extrude

MIDDLE SEAT:

The creation of the middle seat is similar to the front seat. The feature is created on the surface body of HULL , We use boss extrude In order to create the Seat and then we mirror it, The table is created using boss extrude feature and then Grey appearance is given to the table. The white appearance is given to the seat.

The feature used in the operation are:

  • boss extrude
  • cut extrude
  • Fillet
  • Champer
  • Mirror

REAR SEAT

The rear seat is created on the surface of the hull, according to the blueprint sketches we create a sketch and we do a surface sweep Then we trim unwanted surfaces and convert it into knit surface. then we use appropriate appearance to the rear seat.

The feature to create the rear seat are:

  • surface sweep
  • surface loft
  • surface trim
  • 3D sketch
  • surface body
  • Boss extrude
  • Cut extrude
  • Chamfer
  • Fillet

SUPERSTRUCTURE:

The superstructure is created on the surface body of the hull. The sketch is created according to the blueprint sketches, first we create a surface sweep in order to form the structure We use surface trim option to remove unwanted surfaces then we knit all these surfaces to form a solid. then we use a mirror option to mirror the solid body then we apply appropriate appearance to the superstructure.

The features used in the operations are:

  • surface sweep
  • surface loft
  • surface trim
  • surface fill
  • Surface extrude
  • ruled surface
  • cut extrude
  • boss extrude
  • Fillet
  • Chamfer
  • 3D sketch
  • blueprint sketch
  • Planes
  • Projected curve
  • Shell
  • Mirror
  • knit surface
  • Surface bodies

RADAR MAST:

The radar mast is created on the surface body of the hull, using top plane blueprint sketch The base of the radar mast is created using boss extrude and then fillets are applied, then we use a projected curve to do a solid sweep, then we mirrored the body to the midplane and appropriate appearance is given to the radar mast.

The feature used In the operations are:

  • Boss extrude
  • Cut extrude
  • projected curve
  • solid sweep
  • Mirror
  • Fillet
