Challenge

Week 7 Challenge - Assembly Workbench

OBJECTIVE

To create assembly of Quick Return Mechanism and CV Joint. The individual part of both models are to be created and assembled and also create 2d drawing of the models by drafting in CATIA.

DESIGN METHODOLOGY

Steps involved in part modelling and assembly includes:

1. Creating Sketches using positioned sketch and all sketches are to be iso-constrained.

2. Commands used for creating part models are Pad, Shaft, Pocket.

3. Assembly contraints followed are Fix, Coincidence, Offset.

1. Quick Return Mechanism

A quick return mechanism is a device that creates a reciprocating motion where the return stroke travels faster than the forward stroke. It uses a system of links with three turning pairs and a sliding pair and is powered by a circular motion source, usually a motor of some kind. A quick-return mechanism is a specific kind of slider-crank linkage that uses an offset crank to accomplish its unique purpose. In shaping, cutting, and stamping machines, where speed is essential for higher output, this mechanism is extensively utilized.
