Week 7- Base Unit Design Challenges 2

--------------REPORT-------------------

A base unit is foundation of a fixture, which holds all other units.

Base Plate, weldments, pedestal, valve box, eyebolts and trunking channel etc are parts of a base unit.

For the input panel, 5 clamp units (clamp units and clamp-pin units), 2 rest units and 4 pin units are designed till now in different challenges.

For all these, a base unit is designed in this challenge.

Also for each panel (5 input panels) is fully constrained.

For pin-clamp units, each pin is provided with two-way shims, using 2 plates.

Some points in base unit design –

For all the units, a base plate is already input.

Being a square plate, first weldment is designed using SQ tube.

At corners, plates of 20mm thickness provided to join further set of weldments, pedestal.

Weldment-2 is a joint of plate, pedestal and base plate. Pedestal is a Square Tube with 80 X80 X 5 mm thickness.

Height of base plate from floor is 1060 mm.

1. wELDMENT-1-

Welded joint of Sq. Tubes, to be welded to a base plate.

Weldment -2 will be bolted to floor plate, gap of 10 mm between floor plate and pedestal base plate maintined for leveling adjustment.

Final weld base unit. (Valvebox, Trunking Channel and eyebolts are yet to add.)
