Week 6- Challenge

Assignment Week No:6

Objective: To generate mid-surface and clean-up the given components and mesh the same with the correct flow with respect to the given quality criteria.

Procedure:

• All the components (inner/outer extract, hinge, latch) have been arranged sequentially with their Id.
• The command ‘ offset + plane + sweep’ from the extraction column has been used to generate the mid surface.
• Once the mid-surface is generated, the procedure to clean up the geometry has been started by using the tools i.e toggle edge, filler surface, etc. in the necessary region as per requirement.
• Before starting for the mesh, all the quality criteria have been set in the criteria file setting in the preferences column.
• All the components have meshed with the target element size as 5.
• For the rectangular region, the mesh is done by using the only quad element and for the curvature region the elements that have been used are a mix (quad + triangular)
• To maintain the flow of mesh, the re-mesh command is used.
• For the critical regions, the elements have been manually created, and to maintain the element connectivity the equiveillance is used.
• To verify the quality of the mesh the quality index from the 2D mesh section is used to see all the parameters and if any of the elements is found which is not ok has been cleared by using the tool element optimize.
• All other components have been meshed using the same method.
• Since all the geometries are symmetric about the respective axis the reflect command is used to mesh the remaining side of the component.
