Week 6- Challenge

AIM:To mesh the Hood component and assign the thickness with the given quality criteria.

QUALITY CRITERIA :Aspect ratio=5,Skewness=45,Warping=15,Taper=0.5,Min length=2mm,Max length=8mm,Min quad angle=45,max quad angle=135,Min angle tria=20,Max angle tria=120 and Tria%=10
Target element Length=5mm.

TOOLS USED:

2D>Automesh for extracting the midsuraface.

Geometry>quick edit>toggle edge to toggle the lines distance between them below 2mm.

Lines>midline to create a featuring line.

Geometry>surface edit>trim with lines to trim the surface.

2D>quality index>cleanup tools to drag, combine trias, split quads, swap edges where trias present at the edges, place node to adjust the element length.

Tools>check elements to manuallly check for failures.

Tools>Translate to clean the warpage.

Tools>reflect to reflect the meshing and midsurface.

PROCEDURE:
1.Extract the mid surfaces of the hood individually which consists of 5parts namely Latch,Hinge 1&2,Inner surface and outer surface.

2.Selet the Latch surface of mid surface for geometry cleanup where to cleanup the geometry for having free edges.

3.Remove the excess lines or the lines having a below 2mm in between them by toggling the lines.
4.Mesh the latch by selecting the surface and arrange the nodes where trias are formed to form quads where the target element to be 5mm.

5.After meshing the latch, check for quality criteria for where it is failing to reach its min values and max values.

6.After reaching its quality criteria without any fails then mesh the hinge part 1 and check for criteria.

7.After checking the fails check for any duplicates formed and nodes replacement and then reflect the mesh to the other hinge part 2 of the hood so it can get the same mesh without any criteria fails.

8.Mesh the outer surface of the hood by deleting the half part of the surface to the center.Make a featuring line at center of the curve by toggling the other two lines as the distance between the lines is below 2mm which is below min length.

9.Mesh the outer surface of the hood by making equal parts for mesh quality. If the criteria fails to reach its value, identify the type of fail occurred and make the corrections to reach its values.
10.Make the trias to flow in a direction if occurs and avoid rotational quads.

11.Check for edges formed due to nodes replace or improper nodes alignment and any duplicates formed and make them equivalences.
12.Reflect the half part of mesh by selecting the nodes direction and base nodes to get reflected in a direction.

13.Mesh the inner part of the hood by deleting the half part and making the featuring line at the lines in between below length 2mm which fails to make mesh and arrange the nodes equally to avoid trias and then check for the failures occurred and remesh the elements where there are a group of trais and rotational quad elements.

14.Reflect the elements of the inner hood panel half part to the other part.

15.Split the rotational quads into trias if there is max length at rotational quads.

16.The colors in the Element quality shows the types of failures.

WARPAGE ISSUE:Araises when then angle between the two normals on the element plane greater than the given angle. It can be adjusted by translating the node of element causing bend.

RESULT:Hood component meshed by making mid surface and assigned the Quality criteria.
