Week-4 Challenge WOT Condition Part-2
1) Difference between the mapped and dynamic models of engine, motor, and generator.
- Powertrain Blockset provides fully assembled reference application models of automotive powertrains. It provides two types of combustion engine models: mapped and dynamic.
- Mapped engines represent macro engine behavior as a set of lookup tables. Mapped engine models are suitable for analysis and design activities.
- Dynamic engines decompose engine behavior into individual component models that account for engine dynamics. Dynamic engine models are suitable for designing control, estimator, and diagnostic algorithms.
Changing the model type.
Simulink for Motor-Generator
- Open a Simulink of Electric Vehicle reference application.

Right-click on the Simulink block to open the variant option and click label model to change the mapped into the dynamic.

2) Simulink block to calculate miles per gallon
Simulink for EV

Simulink for HEV

Calculate
- One of the parameters used to compare gasoline-fueled vehicles is miles per gallon, also known as mpg.
- MPG is an abbreviation for “miles per gallon-equivalent.
- MPG was introduced by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The 1 gallon of gasoline is equal to 33.7 kWh.
- The vehicle speed data is used to calculate the distance traveled in meters, which is converted into miles.
- Battery power data is used to find power used in kWh which is converted into gasoline equivalent.
- By dividing the distance traveled in miles by the number of gallons, we can get miles per gallon.
Factors are considered to model fuel flow
The factors to be considered the fuel flow, vehicle speed, and battery power.
3) Run the HEV ReferenceApplication with WOT drive cycle.
- Open the HEV reference application.
- Next, open the Drive Cycle Source block.
- Then change the Wide open throttle and click the ok button.

Environment block

Output Result Grade 5, wind velocity 5 m/s

Output Result Grade 10, wind velocity 7 m/s

4) Keeping all other parameters the same, compare the simulated results of hybrid and pure electric powertrains.
