Week-4 Challenge WOT Condition Part-2
Open the HEV reference application
Mapped models are used when the behavior of a particular model is not of our interest and can be modeled with predefined values in the form of lookup tables.
mapped motor:
a mapped motor and drive electronics operating in torque control mode. we have to specify an electrical torque range with a torque-speed envelope or maximum motor power and torque. Output torque tracks a torque reference demand and includes a motor and drive response time constant. Also have to Specify electrical losses as a single operating point that estimates loss across the operating range, measured loss, or measured efficiency.

DYNAMIC model:

Dynamic Modelling describes those aspects of the system that are concerned with time and sequencing of the operations. It is used to specify and implement the control aspect of the system
motor components such as inverter, phase controller, and feedback circuits are also modeled.
CHANGING the model type in EV powertrain blocks:
we can use the variant manager in the modeling tab to find the variant systems we have.

2............
Simulink block to calculate miles per gallon.

- vehicle speed data is used to calculate the distance traveled in meters which is then converted to miles
- Battery power data is used to find power used in kWh which is then converted to gasoline-equivalent using US EPA value by dividing with 33.7
- note: As per the US environmental protection agency(EPA) 1 gallon of gasoline is equal to 33.7 kWh
- By dividing the distance traveled in miles by the number of gallons, we can get miles per gallon.
- For HEV this gallon(gasoline equivalent of battery power) is added to the gallon used by the IC engine then miles per gallon is calculated.

when the grade is 0 and wind velocity is 0

after changing the grade to 7 and wind velocity to 20m/s

with the increase in grade and wind velocity
- peak velocity is decreased as gradient force and aerodynamic force become predominant.
- fuel economy is also decreased because the distance traveled is decreased due to outward forces.
- deceleration time is decreased so battery recharging capacity is also decreased
4.......... comparening the simulated results of hybrid and pure electric powertrains.
Simulation conditions

with grade 7 and wind velocity 20m/s
EV simulation result

vs HEV simulation

model of EV and hev

by seeing all the graph we can say that-------------
Time taken to achieve the required peak velocity is smaller for HEV as compared to EV
Deceleration time is also low for HEV as it has multiple moving frictional parts
fuel economy is more for an EV compared to HEV due to less no of moving parts and thus low frictional losses
