Week-4 Challenge WOT Condition Part-2

1)Difference between Mapped and Dynamic Models

MAPPED:-

a)data types are preassigned in lookup tables.

b)the engine and motor torque required is sensed and the they gives out the required output without considering real time parameters, engine, motor, etc.

c)simulation takes much less time but accuracy is not high.

DYNAMIC:-

a)uses combination of various outputs from various subsystems to generate the output.

b)Runs by real time simulation.

c)As per drive cycle requirements voltage, current is given along with vehicle feedback so that the actual simulation runs at that moment through drive cycle.

d)accuracy very high as it considers real outputs.

e)simulation will take long time because of various individual simulations running in the subsystems.

We can change the modeling type by using the variant manager in the modeling tab. Then Right click on the model we want and then set as label mode active choice.

2)

a)vehicle speed data is sued to calculate the distance covered in meters which is converted to miles.

b)Battery power is used to find power used inKWh which is then converted to gasoline_equivalent using US EPA value by dividing with 33.7(1gallon gasoline=33.7KWh)

c)Dividing distance traveled with no. of gallons,we can get miles per gallon.

d)For HEV,this gallon which is equivalent to battery power is added with gallon used by IC engine them miles per gallon is calculated.

3)

Cycle carried out for 100seconds with wide open throttle drive cycle source.

grade is 5 and wind is 10

Grade is 15 and wind is 30

RESULTS:

with the increase in grade and wind velocity, peak velocity achieved is reduced as gradient force and aerodynamic force becomes dominant. Fuel economy is also reduced because the distance  travelled is reduced due to external forces.deceleration time is reduced so recharging capacity is also reduced.Battery SOC at the end of WOT acceleration is similar but during deceleration battery is charged more is the grade and wind velocity is less.

4)

simulation is done at 100.

CASE1:

CASE2:

changing the environment to gradeability to 5 and wind to 10.

REMARK:

The overall difference in both these simulations where EV is completely operated on the battery power as on the power source whereas HEV uses SI engine and battery.the results obtained are varied and parameters are differentiated accordingly.
