Challenge

Week-4 Challenge WOT Condition Part-2

Objective:

  1. What is the difference between mapped and dynamic model of engine, motor and generator? How can you change model type?
  2. How does the model calculate miles per gallon? Which factors are considered to model fuel flow?
  3. Run the HEV ReferenceApplication with WOT drive cycle. Change the grade and wind velocity in the environment block. Comment on the results.
  4. Keeping all other parameters same, compare the simulated results of hybrid and pure electric powertrains.

Type

Implementation

When to Use

Mapped

CiMappedEngine

SiMappedEngine

Model uses a set of steady-state lookup tables to characterize engine performance.

The tables provide overall engine characteristics, including actual torque, fuel flow rate, BSFC, and engine-out exhaust emissions.

  • If you have engine data from a dynamometer or a design tool like GT-POWER.

  • For quasi steady-state engine simulations.

Dynamic

CiEngine

SiEngine

Model decomposes the engine behavior into engine characteristics that are separated into lower-level components. By combining components in this way, the models capture the dynamic effects.

  • If you need a more detailed dynamic model and have component-level data.

  • To analyze the impact of individual engine components on the overall performance.

>Now in matlab powertrain blockset model

Now open passenger car block

OPen electric plant block:

Now open motor block:

Then now active the subsystem get dynamics and right click then select varient option then go with label model active choice

>Varient

>Model active choice

>GetEVDynamic

Activated

2. How does the model calculate miles per gallon? Which factors are considered to model fuel flow?

>Factors affecting fuel efficiency are

Vehicle speed

Battery power

>By clicking on performance calculation block:

3.Run the HEV ReferenceApplication with WOT drive cycle. Change the grade and wind velocity in the environment block. Comment on the results.

>Changing HEV reference model:

>By clicking the drive cycle and then open it and make changes in it as Wide-open throttle(WOT)

>By changing that parameter WOT and run the 50sec

Then the result graph in performance calculation plot scope

Observation:

>As trade velocity peak of above 60 crossed and go it constant up to 30sec after that it whole remain process is constant

>Battery soc is at of 80sec and then after 5sec the graph is changing decreasing the value up to 30 and after that, its remains constantly charge

>Us fuel economy as slowly varies of increasing and after 23sec it will constantly be slighted

  • Changing the grade and wind velocity in the environment block
  • changing the grade value =20
  • Changing velocity value=15

SCOPE RESULT:

>battery current increasing

>Soc is as remain of same in the previous result

>Some were various changes in fuel economy differences while comparing to previous scope result

4.Keeping all other parameters same, compare the simulated results of hybrid and pure electric powertrains.

HEV Reference

Result scope:

EV references:

Result scope:

Differences

>There are totally differences in current battery and soc and fuel economy

>As running the simulation there were various changes with the time

>In Hev the fuel economy is processing remain const and EV various start increasing the values

>In EV battery current increasing and decreasing depended on voltage capacity of the battery and current flow and HEV are remains of const

>IN both velocity and grade are different and a max of torque also were speed rpm also
