Week-4 Challenge WOT Condition Part-2
- What is the difference between mapped and dynamic model of engine, motor and generator? How can you change model type?
1)Mapped Model
1)The data used for the operation and simulation are to be entered in a form of Lookup table which could be then configured with the operational parts and the analysis would be formed
2)If the detailed lookup table data is available with us the simulation become easier and it gives the result on the basis of data interpreted. Also known as Global Based Model.
Disadvantage
More data has to be collated and some assumptions might also have to be taken.
Engine:Engine performance could be simulated with the array of data interpreted in the system.whereas all conditions such as engine operation ,power ,efficiency, could be measured.
Motor:Specification such as rpm,max efficiency, heat, and such specifications are to be entered for simulating the result.
Generator:Specification for baterry torque, battery current, motor torque are tobe entered for simulation.
2)Dynamic Models
1) It understands the behaviour of the part/element and then it behaves accordingly. It gives analysis for the variations entered by us in the specifications whereas it simulates according to real and dynamic operations.,
2)It operates dynamically depending on the situation of operation detailed data and specification are not required and the simulation gives the detailed analysis of the components simulated. Also known as Real time based model.
Disadvantage
Could not simulate as per our customized specifications.
Engine:Engine performance will be simulated as per the original engine specification. All results will be obtained with real time details.
Motor: The actual details for the same would be considered and the results would be obtained.
Generator: All details and the specification would be considered as per the actual dynamic state and the reults of the same would be obtained then.
Example of changing Model type
When we enter the generator this screen comes

Currently the mapped generator is configured ,now to change it to dynamic generator then need to follow the steps

Select the model which you want to configure
choose variant manager
Right click the model you wish to choose and then Set as label mode active choice.
3.How does the model calculate miles per gallon? Which factors are considered to model fuel flow?

Factors affecting fuel efficiency
i)Vehicle speed
ii)Battery power
iii)Fuel flow
Conversion from Cubic Meter to gallon
264.172 us gallon is 1000L
The final output or fuel efficiency is calculated by keeping in consideration of battery output, fuel output and vehicle speed.therefore fuel efficiency is cal and it is convertered after saturation thus the fe is calculated.
3)Run the HEV ReferenceApplication with WOT drive cycle. Change the grade and wind velocity in the environment block. Comment on the results.

HEV -WOT Drive Cycle
time 60 sec
Observation:-
1Plot 1: desired velocity has not been met by actual vehicle velocity.
2 Plot2 :engine speed, motor speed: this plot gives the acheived engine and motor speed in rpm.
3 Plot3:Engine torque,Motor torque and Generator torque
4:Plot4:Battery current: plot denotes power produced by the battery in Ampere.
5 Plot5:Battery SOC: denotes state of charge of battery.
Plot6: US fuel Economy-This is the fuel efficiency.
WOT Cycle with Grade and Velocity

Have changed grade from 0-10
Wind velocity=0-25
Result graph obtained

Comparison:
1Plot1: As the grade and velocity increased compared to the ormal state vehicle not able to reach the target velocity.
2 Plot2: Comparing with the normal plot engine speed has reduced on the negative side as compared to the normal plot grade is increasing the load on the engine and thus engine speed is not met.
3:Plot3: There are variations in all the aspects.
4:Plot 4:Battery current is fluctuating at higher range as compared to the normal.
5: Plot5: Battery state of charge remains almost similar
6:Plot6: Average fuel economy differ in the range of 5 to 9mph in both.
4) Keeping all other parameters same, compare the simulated results of hybrid and pure electric powertrains.

Conclusion:
Overall difference in both the simulation are their vehicle operation where ev is operated with battery and HEV has two power source i.e engine and battery.
