Week-4 Challenge WOT Condition Part-2

  1. What is the difference between mapped and dynamic model of engine, motor and generator? How can you change model type?
  2. How does the model calculate miles per gallon? Which factors are considered to model fuel flow?
  3. Run the HEV ReferenceApplication with WOT drive cycle. Change the grade and wind velocity in the environment block. Comment on the results.
  4. Keeping all other parameters same, compare the simulated results of hybrid and pure electric powertrains.
  1. What is the difference between mapped and dynamic model of engine, motor and generator? How can you change model type?

ans-

Difference between Mapped model dynamic model

Mapped model -Model uses a set of steady-state lookup tables to characterize model performance.

Look up table values are predefined

The tables provide overall model characteristics

This mapped model us look up table

we will see eg of look up table ----chrgl mt and discharge mt

Dynamic model - by the word this model is dynamic not set of static values but real time values.

In dynamic we can give values manually

When we see mapped and dynamic model of engine, motor, and generator we give values by the help of look up table. Or given dynamic data that that the results are accurate

In help document we will see eg of ic engine mapped and dynamic model. its implementation and when to use

how can we change from mapped to dynamic

2)How does the model calculate miles per gallon? Which factors are considered to model fuel flow?

ans -

Here is the basic formula for calculating Miles per Gallon (MPG):

(end – start) = miles driven

Miles Driven / Gallons Used = MPG

So:

(E-S)/G

Where:

S= Miles at the start of the tank (when filled first)

E= Miles at the end of the tank (when refilled)

G= Gallons used

Or you can just use our Miles per Gallon Calculator available on net

------------ how we calculate in model-------------

taken from the Electric Vehicle reference model

two input to the model vehicle speed and battery power.

  • BATTERY POWER converted into kw unit by giving to product block.

The next block will convert kw to gallon per hour

The next block connected its o/p to integrator we get m^3 per gallon to gallon only. And also m^3 to L

  • VEHICLE SPEED m/s convertd to meter by product and square root block then by using gain block convert to km and mile respectively

The two outputs miles and gallons are given to a product block to get miles per gallon . Thus, Miles per Gallon was converted in this electric model

3) Run the HEV ReferenceApplication with WOT drive cycle. Change the grade and wind velocity in the environment block. Comment on the results

ans ---HEV ReferenceApplication with WOT drive cycle.

type powertrain blockset in help ,then dodument will open going inside of that page you will see no of models .. we are running HEV ReferenceApplication with WOT drive cycle. and its results we plot

Model: Hybrid Electric Vehicle Multimode Reference Model
Stop time: 100
Velocity: 50
Grade: 0
Drive cycle: WOT Cycle
WOT start time: 1sec
WOT time to deaccelerate: 60
WOT stop time: 100

Model: Hybrid Electric Vehicle Multimode Reference Model
Stop time: 100
Velocity: 50
Grade: 10
Drive cycle: WOT Cycle
WOT start time: 1sec
WOT time to deaccelerate: 60
WOT stop time: 100

we run this model at 0 grade and 10 garde and other parameter as shown above diagram and we run the model and results are plot as show up in fig.

-all plots explaniation -- in velocity graph we see the effect of garde compared to 0 degree grade , we see the deceleration at 60 ,

-due to this battery also charge se see battery soc graph is negative torque curve also negative and batter charge is reducing as vehicle travel

-we can check miles per gallon and alos rpm.

-we can clearly check the delta x and delta y values in left side

the battery current limit we can see in battery current graph also effect of in initial velocity we can see

comment -we run the model we came to now the effect of grade on vehicle the soc of battery we came to now at what time it reduce and charge we can aloo see mpg it trave.moter torque its behaviour velocity all this things we came to now and we study our model

4)Keeping all other parameters same, compare the simulated results of hybrid and pure electric powertrains.

ans--Model: pure electric powertrains.
Stop time: 100
Velocity: 50
Grade: 0
Drive cycle: WOT Cycle
WOT start time: 1sec
WOT time to deaccelerate: 60
WOT stop time: 100

--Model: pure electric powertrains.
Stop time: 100
Velocity: 50
Grade: 10
Drive cycle: WOT Cycle
WOT start time: 1sec
WOT time to deaccelerate: 60
WOT stop time: 100

all plots explain

- we study the model as asked in question, from above to fig the model is run at 0 grade and 10 grade

-plot 1 we see the effect of grade comparing both plots we see it deceleration time it decelerate

-due to deceleration battery soc little bit lift up it is due to re generation by moter values goes in negative

-we can check rpm graph moter torque also goes in negative miles per gallon we can also check

-for the values we can see delta x and delta y values wrt to the graph we compare.on left side

comment -we run the model we came to now the effect of grade on vehicle the soc of battery we came to now at what time it reduce and charge we can aloo see mpg it trave.moter torque its behaviour velocity all this things we came to now and we study our model
