Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

Use ADVISOR tool and simulate the following

1.) For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.

2.) In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.

3. ) Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file

Compare your results in table and conclude.

ans 1) we have to download advisor tool open folder in mat lab run advisor.m file a screen will pop up start the program following screen will apear we give parameter as per question and remaining will be default values 500 kg cargo mass

can vehicle travel 45 km ie 28 miles with FTP drive cycle we will see

one 1FTP driving cycle =11.04 miles =117.7 km

conclusion - the vehicle will run for 1FTP drive cycle only 11.04miles ie 17.7km and 4FTP drive cycle 44.06 miles ie 71km but battery will drain at 41km ie 25.7 mile so one FTP cycle will not run 45km ie 28 miles

so vehicle will not travel for 45 km with 1 FTP drive cycle so we can increase drive cycle.

2) same case we will increase the battery capacity 25 to 50

in first case we see 1 FTP cycle is not enough we give 4FTP CYCLE but battery is not enough to run so in this we increase the battery capacity 25 to 50 we can see in SOC plot ie state of charge the drainng period of battery

conclusion - now we see this result after batter capacity increased to 50 see the SOC plot and compare with previous SOC plot we observe that battery was not enough to run and in this case the battery drain out at 44.2 miles ie 71 km thus increase battery capacity will increase distance travel.

3) Performing gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file

next we tick gradibility option and open this front tab

by running at various speed we we see gradability

at 10 mph

at 30 mph

at 40 mph

at 45 mph

at 45 mph

at 50 mph

at 55 mph

at 60 mph

at 70 mph

at 80 mph

Compare your results in table and conclude

conclusions- we see that as speed increases gradeability decreases.

as battery capacity increase travel didtance increase.
