Week 4 Challenge

1)

AIM :

To classify the given sections of following beam shapes to plastic, semi compact or slender

  • ISMB 500
  • ISMC 200
  • PG 1300 x 450 x 20 x 12

PROCEDURE :

RESULT :

Hence the sections are classified to plastic, semi compact and slender as per IS 800:2007

2)

AIM:

To calculate effective length of rafter madeup of Builtup I section

PROCEDURE:

RESULT:

Effective length of the rafter is determined to be 977.5 mm

3)

AIM:

To calculate deflection at the centre of the beam shown below for different conditions given and to calculate th eflexure stiffness of the beam for the given value of deflection.

PROCEDURE:

RESULT:

Deflection and flexure stiffness of thhe beam for the given conditions are as given below:

1) Deflection = 0.0639 mm

2) Deflection = 0.6368 mm

3) Flexure stiffness = 26 x 10 ^7 Nm^2

4)

AIM:

To design a beam for the given loading conditions and to determine its moment carrying capacity.

PROCEDURE:

RESULT:

Hence an ISWB 600 @ 133.7 Kg/m section can be chosen as it is safe against shear, moment, deflection, buckling and bearing.

5)

AIM:

To design channel purlin, considering sag rod at mid span for the roof truss.

PROCEDURE:

RESULT:

Hence we will use ISMC 200 as it is safe against shear, moment and deflection.
