Washing Machine and Gear Shift Simulink Modelling in Simulink
Washing Machine and Gear Shift Simulink Modelling
- Implement control logic of a “washing machine” using Stateflow as per given sequence:
- If the power supply is available, the system gets activated
- If the Water supply is not available, stop the process & indicate through LED
- Soaking time should be 200s followed by Washing time of 100s.
- Then rinsing happens for next 20s & dryer runs for 50s
After all the processes have completed turn on the finished LED

Model Explanation:
The following Model was designed for the Washing Machine Stateflow. The Power and Water Supply is input using a Rocker Switch. Lamps are used to explain the various Input conditions and Complete Lamp is used for explaining if the activity is finished or not. The Constant input block is connected to the Rocker Switches, which give the Power and Water Supply input. The inputs are given to a Chart, where a Control Flow Chart is designed to create the desired control and output.
CHART SCHEMATIC:

The various variables are stated as input or output using the Symbols Pane.

The output variables from the Chart are assigned to lamps using Terminators.
OUTPUT:
POWER=ON, WATER=OFF

POWER=OFF, WATER=ON

POWER=ON, WATER=ON

CONCLUSIONS:
Successfully simulated a Stateflow model for Washing Machine for various input cases.
2. Make a Simulink chart for the “Gear shift” logic as per below conditions:
Speed Range(kmph) Gear
0 to 15 1
16 to 25 2
26 to 40 3
41 to 60 4
Above 61 5
Give speed input while the simulation is running & display the gear number.
A:
The following model was deployed for a Gear shift mechanism:

The below control chart was used for the Shifting:

below is the Symbol Pane input and output values of the chart:

The model includes speed input coming from a slider block, going into the Chart. The Chart outputs the respective Gear value based on the Control Conditions. The output Gear values are presented using a Display Dashboard. The Gauge Block is used to represent the Speed as a Speedometer.
OUTPUT:
Speed=10 km/hr:

Speed=20 km/hr:

Speed=30 km/hr:

Speed =45 km/hr:

Speed=70 km/hr:

CONCLUSIONS:
Successfully simulated a Stateflow model for Gear shift for various input speeds.
