Challenge

Week 3 Sheet metal Bending challenge

Objective- To Simulate sheet metal bending challenge with three different materials (Aluminium Alloy 1199, Copper Alloy NL & Magnesium Alloy NL) and find out Equivalent Stress, Equivalent Elastic Strain & Total Deformation.

Procedure-

1. We will add material from engineering data sources Aluminium Alloy 1199, Copper Alloy NL & Magnesium Alloy NL.

2. We will give frictional contact of 0.1 and 0.19 coeff of friction in two different simulations.

3. Now we wil apply body sizings to all three body and then face sizing to punch face and apply mesh with appropriate sizings.

4. Now we will Provide Analysis settings wit 10 steps with energy dissapation of ratio of 0.1

5. Now we will apply displacemets to both die and punch accordingly to that sheet metal take form properly.

Results and conclusion: For Frictional coeff 0.1

From above results we conclude structural steel is most difficult to bend for sheet metal process.
