Aim: To perform drop test of a simplified cellphone and a plate mimicking ground.
Objectives:
Procedure:
1.Import the file into the LS-Dyna pre-post.
2.File ->Open ->LS-Dyna Key-word File.
3.Create the materials for both the mobile and rigid ground surface.
4.Goto keyword manager and select the "all" and expand the mat tab.
5.Create the Mat 024 Piecewise linear plasticity for the cellphone component as below.
6.Create the Mat 020 Rigid for the ground surface with the following values.
7. Create the ASCII option under the database in the keyword manager and select the ELOUT,GLSTAT,MATSUM and enter the DT value as 0.1.
8.Create the Binary_D3PLOT under the database and enter the DT Value as 0.1.
9.Create the velocity under the initial tab and enter the velocity as -10,as the cellphone has to move in -Z direction.
10.Create a part under the Part tab with name as Rigid wall assign the part ID,Material ID and section ID.
11.Similarly create the part for cellphone and assign the part material and section ID's.
12.Goto keyword manager ->Section->Shell.
13.Create the shell section for the rigid surface, assign the values of thickness as below.
14.Similarly create the solid section for the mobile as below.
15.Create the a contact of type Automatic surface to surface in the keyword manager and the master and slave ID's.
16. Create the termination under control tab and enter the endtime as 5s.
17.Goto the boundary select the spc set and select the nodes by path and select the nodes as below in the all sides of the surface.
18.Goto model checker -> Keyword checker and click on re-check,errors should be for the solver to run Normal termination.
19.If the errors in the moidel checker persists to be 0, then save the keyword file.
20.Open the LS-Run and select the saved keyword file into the input of the LS-Run, and click add job to local queue button.
21.Open the LS Prepost and drop the d3plot file to see the below results.
Results:
Thus I performed the drop test simulation of a simplified cellphone touching the rigid floor.
Graph is plotted for the internal, kinetic and houglass energies generated during the simulation.
