Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool
Aim:
Use ADVISOR tool and simulate the following
1. For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.
2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.
3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file
Compare your results in table and conclude.
Advisor tool:
ADVISOR was created in the MATLAB/Simulink envir- onment. MATLAB provides an easy-to-use matrix-based programming environment for performing calculations while Simulink can be used to represent complex systems graphically using block diagrams.

The EV default is a Pure Electric Vehicle. Where it is completly driven by the Battery as Power source.

Requiremets:
1. Matlab
2. Advisor Tool
Objective 1:
1. We have conclude that is vehicle can travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle for EV_defaults_in the file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions.
The EV_defaults_in file with 500 KG cerb weight is changed from 136KG. Now total weight of the vehicle is 1508KG.

for EV_default_in module we used FTP (Federal Test Procedure) drive cycle shown below.

Here for 1 CYC_FTP drve cycle vehicle can move for 17.8 Km and available battery is 65%. to discharge the battery to zero we need to run the vehice for 3 CYC_FTP drive cycles. for 2.5 drive cycles vehicle travells the distance of 41.4 KM which drain the battery to 0% from 100%.

FTP drive cycle using 1 cycle covers distance of 17.8 KM

FTP drive cycle using 2.5 drive cycles covers the distance of 41.4 Km
Conclusion: From the above simulation we can conclude that to reach to 45Km distance we need to increase the battery capacity of the vehicle.
Objective 2:
For above case, We have change bettery capacity and repeat the simulation
Scenario 1:
Now we're increased the battery module from 25 to 30 to increase the capacity of the battery. now we Run the simulation and found that range of the vehicle is increased to 49.1 KM from 41.1 KM and total Mass of the vehicle is 1563 KG. Shown below

30 Battery Modules used.

Range of vehicle increassed to 49.1 Km
Scenario 2:
Now we're increased the battery modules from 30 to 40 to increase the capacity of the battery. Now we Run the simulation and found that range of the vehicle is increased to 53.3 KM from 49.1 KM and total Mass of the vehicle is 1673 KG. Shown below

Battery modules used 40

Range of vehicle increased to 53.3KM
Conclusion: From the above simulation we can conclude that as battery capacity is increased the range of the vehicle is increasing.
Objecrive 3:
To Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file and Compare your results in table and conclude.

Tayota Prius
Tayota prius Runs with Fuel and Battery as power source (Hybrid EV). EV Mode for the Prius allows your vehicle to drive using only electrical power for up to 25 miles. The Prius will switch back to regular fuel once the battery is drained. It's recommended that you only use EV Mode in the following conditions: You're only planning to drive for a short distance.
- The gradability test is being performed by increassing the speed of the vehicle for constant duration of time 50sec.
For 16.1 km/h

For 332.1 km/h

For 48.3 km/h

For 64.4 km/h

For 80.5 km/h

| S NO | Speed (Mph) | Speed (kmph) | Gradability (%) | Duration (sec) |
| 1 | 10 | 16.1 | 34.4 | 50 |
| 2 | 20 | 32.2 | 23.5 | 50 |
| 3 | 30 | 48.3 | 18.8 | 50 |
| 4 | 40 | 64.4 | 15.8 | 50 |
| 5 | 50 | 80.5 | 13.6 | 50 |
Conclusion: From the above simulation we can conclude that as speed increses Gradability is to be decreases.
