Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool
STEP-1
When we open the vehicle input file, we have to choose "EV_defaults_in", fom the drop down menu:

STEP -2
By keeping all the other parameters same and only changing the cargo mass to 500kg, the calculated mass also changes, and we press "continue"

STEP - 3
The simulation parameters window open, since we only have to observe FTP drive cycle, we choose it from the drop menu:

STEP - 4
From the FTP drive cycle, we can see that it covers a distance of 17.77km in 2477sec. We press RUN to see the RESULTS FIGURE so that we could make the necessary changes to see if we could reach 45km with this drive cycle.

STEP - 5
As we can see, 1 drive cycle can cover the distance of 17.8km, therefore we will be needing more than 1 cycle to reach the required distance of 45 km, so changing the #drive cycle to 3, and then running it again.

CONCLUSION:
- The ess_soc for 1 drive cycle decreases to approx 60% withing 2500sec of time.
- The emissions are 0, showing it is fully EV.
- The ess_soc decreases to 0% in 5500sec of time for 3 drive cycles.
- The warning message concludes that the vehicle cannot cover the distance of 45 km with FTP drive cycle, having 25 modules of battery.
QUES. 2
If we change the battery capacity of 25 modules to 40 modules and RUN the simulation like we did for the previous case:

We receive the following result for 1 FTP drive cycle and 3 FTP drive cycle respectively:

CONCLUSION:
- For 40 modules of battery, same distance is covered for 1 drive cycle, i.e., 17.8km, but the ess_soc decreases to 70%(approx) as compared to 25 modules ess_soc decreasing to 60%(approx).
- The ess_soc decreases all the way to zero for 3 drive cycles.
- The distance covered with 40 modules of battery is 53.3km.
QUES. 3
STEP-1
When we open the vehicle input file, we have to choose "PRIUS_JPN_defaults_in", fom the drop down menu:

STEP - 2
Press "continue" to open the simulation parameter window to have the gradeability test

STEP - 3
Select "grade options" and RUN it first for the default values

We Receive the following Result window

STEP - 3
To see how gradibilty varies with speed, we change the default velocity of 55mph to 60mph, 70mph, 80mph and Running the simulation in every case, we receive the following results of gradibility
For 60mph
For 70mph
For 80mph
For 100mph
CONCUSION:
- The Gradibility decreases with increase in speed.
- At 100mph the vehicle fails the gradibility test giving us 0% gradibility.
- The HC, CO, NOx emissions are not zero, showing that it is not completely EV but a hybrid vehicle.
