Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

1) For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.

Answer:-

Step1:- Selecting EV_defaults_in

Step2:- Make mass 500kg

Step3:- Select FTP drive cycle

Step4:- Run the configuration

The total distance travelled in one drive cycle is 11 miles that is 17.70 km.

Now to travel 45km, increase the drive cycle.

Results for 2 driveing cycle

Distance travelled in two drive cycle is 22miles that is 35.40km

Now add one more drive cycle

For three drive cycles the distance travelled is 25.7 miles that is 41.36km.

Now we can observe in the result that when we are running for three drive cycles, the SOC became 0.Hence the EV_default_in can not travel for 45km distance.

2) In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.

Answer:-

Step1:- Made battery capacity from 25 to 30.

Step2:- Set FTP drive cycle. number of drive cycles are 3.

Step3:- Run the configuration

Now after changing the battery capacity from 25 to 30 the total distance can be travelled by the vehicle is 30.5 miles that is 48.28 km.

3) Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file. Compare your results in table and conclude.

Answer:-

Step1:- Select PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in

Step 2:- Set drive cycle to CYC_FTP and enable Gradeability test.

Step3:- Now click on grade options

Now press ok and run the configuration

Step 4:- Results( at 20mph, gradeability is 19.8%)

Step5:- At 30 mph, gradeabilty is 14.7%

Step5:- At 40mph, gradebilty is 11.7%.

Step7:- At 50mph, gradeabilty is 9.7%

Sr. No Speed Gradeability

1 20 19.8%

2 30 14.7%

3 40 11.7%

4 50 9.7%

From above result we can say that as speed increases, gradebility decreases.
