Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

Objective:

1. For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.

2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.

3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file

Ans-

As We know advisor tool have three different window-

1.Vehicle Input Window

2.Simulation Parameter window

3.Result window

vehicle input window look like as follow-

In firsr case we have to select the EV default in otption then we have to set the cargo mass on 500 then click on countinue.

as shoown in below window

In simulation parameter window select FTp drive cycle from drop down menu. And we can change the number of cycle from #no cycle option as shown below

after pressing the RUN button simulation start running and shows the result.

In one drive cycle vehicle covers the 11km and almost consume the 40% SOC.

As we increase the no drive cycle the result shown as below.

In two drive cycle vehicle covers the 22km and almost consume the 80% SOC.

Again increase the drive cylce by 3 then result is below

In three drive cycle it covers 25.7km and consume the 100% of SOC

The minimum distnace covered by the vehicle is 11km and maximum distance covered by the vehicle is 25.7km in three drive cycle.

2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.

By changing the no of modes in #mod we can change the battery capacity. As shown below

We will perform the above condition with mode of batterry 26,27 & 28 and with 2 and three drive cycle and will observe the result.

As shown below image we change the battery mode to 26 and drive cycle will be 2.

As we select the battery with 26 mode then we observe the change in voltage to 321 and weight of the battry is 286kg

Distance covered with above condition is 22.1km result is as below

then select 27 mode then we observe the change in voltage to 333 and weight of the battry is 297kg

Distance covered with above condition is 22.1km result is as below

then select 28 mode then we observe the change in voltage to 345and weight of the battry is 308kg

In 2 drive cycle distance covered in all condition is same 22.1km

Now all above condition with three drive cycle as below

with 26mode and three drive cycle

Distance covered is 26.5km

with 27 mode and three drive cycle

in above condition distance covered is 27.8km

last condition with 28 mode

With last condition distance cover is 28.6km

We can colclude that EV default in is unable to cover the 45km.

3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file

ANS-From drop down menu select the prius jpn moel for simulation as shown in below image

Press the countinue key. And as shown in below image select the data for gradebility test. We can measure the hradebility for 20mph.40mph & 60mps for 10s time.
