Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

1. In the EV_defaults_in file, Set the cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions check whether vehicle travel for 45 km for one Fully charged BEV .

From the above result, I conclude that the vehicle cannot travel for 45 km on one charge in FTP drive cycle. The battery gets fully discharged while reaching 41.4 Km. Its an BEV so no emissions like Hydrocarbon, Carbon monoxide, Nitrogen oxides, or particle matter in the air.

2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.

By changing the battery module from 25 to 30 Batteries then parameters like the nominal (Open circuit) voltage will change from 308 v to 370v, Battery weight will change from 275 to 330 kg, and The vehicle can travel up to 49.1 Km before it was 41.4 Km. Result is shown below.

Above table shows the Different capacity of batteries and their distance can travel

Conclusion is after changing the no of battery higher than 27, Vehicle can reach 45km.

3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file

Compare your results in a table and conclude.

Toyota PRIUS car is a Hybrid electric vehicle which has Power spilt driver. Both Internal combustion engine and battery operate in simultaneously or alone. Initial stage vehicle operates in battery mode. Whenever vehicle needs an higher speed, engine also gives the power to drive the vehicle(i.e, Battery and Engine Mode). When the battery reaches minimum limit of soc is 0.5 then battery stops giving power to vehicle, Only engine will give the powers. Battery get charged after reaching soc 0.5 condition and Braking region.
