Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

CASE 1:

For a mass of 500kg

a)we open the model advisor and then click on EV_defaults_in file and click open.

b) now change the cargo mass to 500kg which is present in EV_defaults_in.

c)now search CY_FTP from drive cycle list nad click it in advisor tool.

d) also in the above result, we can see distance is 17.8km,so the vehicle cant travel a distance of 45 km in a single recharge. also we can see that the SOC has fallen after 2500 sec.

CASE2:

In this case we change battery capacity and repeat the simulation.

Then keeping the driving cycle same we run simulation.

From above we can see that Distance is same (17.8km) as before and nothing has changed except SOC which is 0.83% approximately after 2500sec unlike 0 in last case.Which means that after covering 17.8km some charge remains in it.to understand how much charge the vehicle still carries we run simulation for 10 drive cycles.

From above result we can see distance is 96km and the % of SOC from second plot 0% at 13200secs(approx).

So the car covers a distance of 96km in a single charge.

CASE3:

We need to Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file and compare the results in table and conclude. 

In the load file we need to search PRIUS_JPN_defaults_in and rest parameter are kept in default.

Then we click continue at the bottom window.

Then check gradeability checkbox and then click grade options.

the speed is kept as it is at 55mph

gradeability is 1.7% then speed is changed to 45mph.

gradeability then changes to 2.2% then speed is changed to 35mph.

 

Gradeability at 35mph has increased to 2.4%

So we can conclude by saying that as speed increases gradeability decreases.
