Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool
Simulation Using ADVISOR Tool
Advanced Vehicle Stimulator(Advisor) is used for rapid analysis of vehicle performance and fuel economy of different types of vehicle such as Conventional, Hybrid and Electric.
#1. CASE I
- Load EV_defaults_in file in the advisor.
- Cargo mass is set as 500 kg.

- Click 'Continue' to open the simulation parameters.
- Change the drive cycle to 'CYC_FTD' from the drop down list.

- Set the Drive Cycle as 1.

- Click 'RUN' to get the result of the simulation.

- We need to complete a total of 45 Km, as the vehicle covers only 17.8 Km for 1 drive cycle in the result.
- So we need to increse the Drive Cycle to achieve the desired run.
- The Drive cycle is set as 3.

- For 3 Drive cycle the vehicle covers 35.5 Km.
- The Drive cycle is set as 5.

- For 5 Drive cycle the vehicle covers 41.4 Km.
- The Drive cycle is set as 7.

- For 7 Drive cycle the vehicle covers the same 41.4 Km as before.
Observation
- From this we can conclude our observation that the range of the current battery cannot 45 Km with a cargo mass of 500 Kg.
- So the range of the EV should e incresed.
#2. CASE II
- As the above simulation failed to achive the desired distance we are changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.
- For the above simulation the battery storage was set as 25. To increse the battery storage it is set at different values for different drive cycles.
- To obtain the desired distance run we set the battery storage as 40 and Drive cycle as 3.

- As a result a total of 53.3 Km which is more than the desired distance that has to be achived.
Observation
- To acheive the desired Run a battery storage of 40 and 3 Drive cycle is required.
#3. Perform gradeability test with Toyota PRIUS_Jpn Model
- Load the file PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in in the advisor model.

- Click 'Continue' to set the Gradability and mode of drive cycle.
- The Drive Cycle is Set as 'CYC_FTP'
- The Gradeability Test is checked.

- The Grade Options are set.
- The Speed of the vehicle is set to diffrent values on each test to observe the change in gradeability.
- All systems enabled is cheched inorder to get fuel and energy storage system.

- The gradeability is observed at different speeds.

- Table of Speed Vs Gradeability

Observation
- As speed increses the gradeability decreses.
- at low speed decreses the gradeability increses.
- So Speed is Inversly Praportional to Gradeability.
