Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

AIM:

To analyse and interpret the results from the advisor tool for EV model and toyota prius using different parameters.

STEPS IN ADVISOR:

i)Call the aadvisor tool after downloading it in the same folder path in the command window.

Select the vehicle from the list EV default in and change the cargo mass parameter to 500kg and leave the rest as same.

then click the continue to move to the next page,where you change the cycle for UDDS to FTP(Federal Testing Procedure) as per the given condition.

After selection of necessary test you can run the model which may take a couple of time and result page would look like,

Since it is a electric vehicle there is no emission here

The answer to the question whether the vehicle can travel for 45km for the necessary condition is NO. As per the data analysed in the advisor tool , the distance that the vehicle can travel in the necessary condition is 41.4 km. The energy use figure would look like the below,

But after changing the battery capacity it is possible to achieve the required distance by the vehicle.we here doubled the battery capacity not changing the cargo mass from 500,

Then the distane covered by following the same cycle will be here we have also added the acceleration test,

GRADEABILITY TEST FOR PRIUS:

Toyota prius is a parallel hybrid vehicle running on IC engine and Motor controller. We are testing the gradeability for the

UDDS cycle(Urban dynamometer Driving Schedule)

we move to the next tab and check the gradeability test box and perform the simulation for that condition.The below image shows the gradeability are 1.7% for the default grade parameters having the same fuel consumption rate same,

after modifying the gradeability parameters to some extent like all systems enabled, increased the testing time as shown below,

CONCLUSION:

i) The EV default model is analysed and simulated with the FTP cycle also simulated the model by modifying the battery charging capacity.

ii) Toyota prius model is tested for gradeability and tabulated with no grade parameter model.
