Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

1. For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.

Ans.

For this first open the advisor window in matlab.

Then in below image shows in yellow color mark that change in EV_defaults_in select in load file.

Second is another yellow mark here change cargo mass 500.

Then continue to next and show window like below image.

In that window change Drive cycle CYC_FTP which is mark on that image and number of cycle to check to travel distance.

Here we change another setting which is number of cycle because of we check that this FTP cycle is travel to 45km with the cargo load of 500Kg or not?

Now we discuss above the result.

In that image we can see that total travel distance is 41.4km and SoC of battery is also zero so the vehicle not travel more then that distance.

Here above image show that SoC of battery is zero.

In above image we can see that the total cover distance is 41.4km

CONCLUSION:-

With the cargo load of 500Kg and FTP Drive cycle vehicle can travel distance is 41.4km.

For to travel 45km distance we need to increase the battery module or we can decrease the cargo load in vehicle.

2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.

Ans.

In this model we increase the battery module 25 to 75 which shows in below image.

Here we shows that we change the energy storage.

If we take FTP cycle and value of number of cycle is 4 then also here some SoC of battery so we need to increase number of cycle to check total travel distance.

Here we check with 5 number of cycle but still remaining state ofcharge in battery so we need to check morenumber of cycle.

Here we used 6 number of cycle for check travel distance but here still remain some SoC of battery.

Now we used 7 number of FTP Drive cycle and here below shows that state of charge is zero so vehicle not travel more then the 109km.

CONCLUSION:-

As we increases in battery storage we can travel more distance.

3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file

Compare your results in table and conclude.

In this window we select the gradeability which highlights.

In open grade option for enter velocity.

now we shows the result.

Now I have increased in kmph velocity further I have created table for further changes in speed . so results is in below table.

Here I put graphical representation for more clear.

CONCLUSION:-

As speed increases the gradeability is decreases so on higher speed car easily cope up with slopes.
