ADVISOR Tool
AIM: To explore the various functionalities in the 2003 ADVISOR tool of MATLAB.
1. To find whether an electric vehicle with a cargo of mass 500 kg can travel in the FTP(Federal Test Procedure) test drive cycle using standard ADVISOR tool settings.
Step 1: We load the ADVISOR tool for the EV_defaults_in file with the default configurations and cargo mass of 500kg.

INPUTS:
- Electric Storage: Lead-acid battery(25 modules with nominal voltage 308V, 275kg).
- Motor: 75kW of peak efficiency 92%.
- Transmission: Front-wheel drive with manual transmission.
Step 2: We set the drive cycle as CYC_FTP. We take 3 cycles as this drive cycle covers a 17.77km distance in one cycle.

Step 3: We then run the test

RESULTS:
The above test shows that the electric vehicle runs up to 41.4km.
2. For the above case, change the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.
Steps: We run the above test conditions by changing the number of battery modules, keeping all other parameters the same, and check if it yields the distance covered of 45km.

RESULTS:
We find that for 28 modules of batteries, we get a distance of 46.3km of nominal voltage 345V.
3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file
Step 1: We load prius_jpn file in the ADVISOR tool, the inputs are the same as defaults.

Step 2: In the gradeability test pop-up, we select all systems enable to maximize throttle at that given speed giving us the absolute maximum gradeability for the vehicle in the real world. We iteratively run for different speeds to find the maximum gradeability for a vehicle at that speed for 10s.

RESULTS:

The results for different speeds are tabulated below,
| Speed(mph) | Speed(kmph) | Gradability(%) |
| 10 | 16.09 | 30.3 |
| 20 | 32.18 | 19.8 |
| 30 | 48.27 | 14.7 |
| 40 | 64.36 | 11.7 |
| 50 | 80.45 | 9.7 |
| 60 | 96.54 | 8.1 |
| 70 | 112.63 | 6.3 |
| 80 | 128.72 | 4.5 |
| 90 | 144.81 | 2.8 |
| 100 | 160.9 | 1.3 |
| 101 | 162.509 | 1.1 |
| 102 | 164.118 | 0.3 |
| 103 | 165.727 | 0 |
We can see that only at 0 gradability road, the speed can be 103mph(165.727kmph). Another observation is that on increasing the speed, the gradability starts decreasing.
