Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool
1. For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.
Solution:
Intial conditions of Advisor model:

Result:

After the given data is taken as inputs
Cargo mass = 500 Kg
Load file = EV_defaults_in
Drive cycle = CYC_FTP

Results:
For 1 FTP driver cycle

Vehicle travels for distance of 17.8 Km in 2477 sec.
For 2 FTP driver cycle:

Vehicle travels for distance of 35.5 Km.
For 3 FTP driver cycle:

Vehicle travels for distance of 41.4 Km.
For 4 FTP driver cycle:

Vehicle travels for the same distance of 41.4 Km.
Hence we can observe that the state of charge of the battery drains out to Zero(0).
We can say that increase in mass results in power requirement which leads to drain the battery and hence by this time it covers a total distance of 41.4 Km only.
2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.
Solution:
As per the above question we have seen in the last question when the battery capacity is un changed.

Result:

If the charge capacity is reduced from 25Kw to 15Kw then,

Result:
if the capacity is reduce then the distance travelled is less i.e, 24.8 Km.

If the charge capacity is increased from 25Kw to 50Kw then,

Result :
if the capacity is increased then the distance travelled is less i.e, 71.1 Km.

Hence we can notice that we the capacity of the battery increases the the distance can be increased else cannot.
3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file
Compare your results in table and conclude.
Solution:
The results for the given model is shown below

Now performing gradebility test

Result:
for speed 55 mph

The gradebility is given as 11.5%
By varrying Speed we can get various gradebility factors as shows
for Speed 60 mph

for Speed 70 mph

for Speed 80 mph

for Speed 90 mph

| Time duration(sec) | Speed (mph) | Gradebility |
| 20 | 55 | 11.5% |
| 20 | 60 | 10.6% |
| 20 | 70 | 8.3% |
| 20 | 80 | 6.2% |
| 20 | 90 | 4.4% |
Hence from the table we can notice that if the gradebilty increases the speed of the vehicle decreases gradually.
