Project
AIM: To carry out the system-level simulation of an all- terrain vechile under different situations and prepare a technical report of the simulation model.
SOFTWARE USED: Matlab, simulink.
OBJECTIVE:
To study the model with and with out dashboard by using look up table respecteively.
To analyze the ATV model by simulating the blocks and prepare areport explaining the model properties.
INTRODUCTION:
- CVT
A Continous variable transmission is a type of transmission which tranfers power from engine to the wheela through shafts.

- CVT is an automatic transmission system that uses two pulleys with a steel belt running between them. To continuously vary its gear ratios.
- When the variator which is connected to the primary pulley go outwards the variator of the secondary pulley moves inwards. such that the radius of the secondary pulley is more than the radius of the primary pulley which leads to speed reducton.
- on the other hand when the variator of primary pulley moves inwards the variator of the secondary pulley moves outwards which leads to overdrive.
- The CVT simultaneously adjusts the diameter of the drive pulley that transmits torque from the engine and the driven pulley that transfers torque to the wheels as shown in the above figure.
CVT SUBSYSTEM:
- The input shaft inertia and the output shaft inertia represents the primary and secondary pulley.
- To connect engine and CVT block we need some speed reduction,so we use variable gear ratio.
- This gear ratio block specifies the gear ratio of the engine.
VEHICLE BODY SUBSYSTEM:

- The vehicle body subsystems includes vehicle body block, drum brakes and tyres connected to it.
SIGNAL BUILDER INPUT:

- The above figure shows the input given throgh sigal builder as Brake input and Throttle input.

- This shows the input given to CVT using signal builder.
OUTPUT:

- The output of velocity, distance, throttle, brake are displayed using scope.

- Here the output of CVT gear shafts are displayed.
CVT using DASHBOARD:

- Inthis we have knobs contating brake input and throttle input to adjust the values.
- If we change these knobs engine RPM and velocity of engine changes.

- The output of vechicle speed while giving its input through signal generator.
- Here Increase in throttle increases the velocity of the engine.
VEHICLE SPEED:

- By varrying throttle input velocity increases and decreases while increase in brake input.
SHAFT RPM:

CVT USING LOOKUP TABLE

LOOKUP TABLE :

VEHICLE SPEED:

- This shows the variation in velocity and shaft speed.
SHAFT RPM:

- Here the scope presents the shaft speed of both primary and secondary RPMs.
- When throttle increases primary RPM increases and when break input increases the Primary RPM decreases.
- For the change we can adust the throttle and break input in dashboard using Knobs.
