Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

In this case, ev vehicle type is chosen and the EV_defaults_in file is also chosen. Then cargo mass is changed to 500kg and all other conditions remain the same.

In the next step, the CYC_FTP drive cycle is chosen and a number of cycles is entered as 1 ie : 17.8 km

From the output result table, we came to know that for one FTP drive cycle vehicle runs up to 17.8km but we need to run for 45 km.

From the output result table we came to know that for three FTP drive cycle vehicle runs upto 41.4km and the state of charge reaches zero so we cannot proceed further. From this result we came to know that this vehicle model with 500kg cargo mass cannot reach 45km because the state of charge reaches zero before the vehicle reaches 45km.

Question 2:

In this case, we have to perform the same test as we have done in the previous case but here we have to increase the battery capacity and conclude the observation.

Now the battery capacity is changed from 25 to 30.

From the below image we came to know that vehicle runs upto 49.1km if we increase battery capacity to 30

Now battery capacity is increased to 32.5

From the below image we came to know that vehicle runs upto 53.2km if we increase battery capacity to 32.5

Now battery capacity is changed to 35

In this case, we have increased the number of drive cycle to 4 and from the below image we came to know that vehicle runs up to 56.6km if we increase the battery capacity to 35

Question 3:

Here we have to Perform a gradeability test with the PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file with all default conditions but we have to change speed of the vehicle while doing the gradeability test.

In this case speed of the vehicle is 17.5mph and the duration is 10sec, all systems-enabled options is chosen and constant road grade is chosen and set to 2%.

After we performed the test we got the result as this vehicle model has 22% gradeability at 28.2kmph

In this case speed of the vehicle is 20mph and the duration is 10sec, all systems-enabled options is chosen and constant road grade is chosen and set to 2%.

After we perfome the test we got result as this vehicle model has 19.8% gradeability at 32.2kmph

In this case speed of the vehicle is 22.5mph and the duration is 10sec, all systems enabled options is choosen and constant road grade is chosen and set to 2%.

After we perform the test we got the result as this vehicle model has 18% gradeability at 36.2kmph

In this case speed of the vehicle is 25mph and the duration is 10sec, all systems enabled options is choosen and constant road grade is chosen and set to 2%.

After we perform the test we got the result as this vehicle model has 16.5% gradeability at 40.2kmph

In this case speed of the vehicle is 27.5mph and the duration is 10sec, all systems-enabled options is chosen and constant road grade is chosen and set to 2%.

After we performed the test we got the result as this vehicle model has 15.5% gradeability at 44.3kmph

In this case speed of the vehicle is 30mph and the duration is 10sec, all systems-enabled options is chosen and constant road grade is chosen and set to 2%.

After we perform the test we got the result as this vehicle model has 14.7% gradeability at 48.3kmph

S.NO SPEED (MPH) GRADEABILITY (%)
1) 17.5 22
2) 20 19.8
3) 22.5 18
4) 25 16.5
5) 27.5 15.5
6) 30 14.7
