Week 3 Challenge

1)

AIM:

To Calculate effective length factor of columns in following cases

PROCEDURE:

RESULT:

Effective length factor for the given cases are :

a) Kx = 0.8 and Ky = 2

b) K = 2

c) K = 1.2

2)

AIM:

To calculate the Axial compressive capacity of the Column under given load conditions

PROCEDURE:

RESULT:

Design compressive strength of the column under given conditions has been bound and it is equal to 1401 kN.

3)

AIM:

To design a 2 m long tubular strut member under given loadng conditions

PROCEDURE:

RESULT:

A circular hollow section has been designed for the given load with outer diameter = 100 mm and inner diameter = 60 mm

4)

AIM:

To Design a single laced column made up of two channels back to back under given loading conditions

PROCEDURE:

RESULT:

Hence we will provide 50 mm width and 12 mm thickness flats with horizontal spacing of 283.1 mm and vertical spacing of 566.2 mm and the length of lacing bar is 400.36 mm

5)

AIM:

To Design a battened column made up of two channels back to back under given loading conditions

PROCEDURE:

RESULT:

A battened column of length 456 mm and thickness of 8mm with the intermediate battens of size 300 mm and end battens of size 350 mm are designed.
