Week 3 Challenge

Answer-

Given data-

Length of column = Height of Building L = 10 mtr

effectively restrained in mid height in one direction (in Z direction) but free to move in other direction (Y direction)

Effective Length = 1.2 L =1.2*10 =12 mtr (As per IS 800-2007 Table -11)

Pinned Base with spread footing –

Effective Length = 1 L =1*10 = 10 mtr(As per IS 800-2007 Table -11)

Fixed base spread footing -

Effective Length = 2 L =2*10 = 20 mtr(As per IS 800-2007 Table -11)
