Week 2 Challenge
Solution.1)
Aim: To determine the net sectional area of the given Plates and Angles.
Procedure:

Result: Hence, the net sectional area for the following three cases are obtained successfully and are as:
NET SECTIONAL AREA = 2064 `mm^2`

NET SECTIONAL AREA = 2189 `mm^2`

NET SECTIONAL AREA = 2808 `mm^2`
Solution.2)
Aim: To design the sag rod for the given loading conditions.
Procedure:
Given:
Center to Center Distance between Rafter = 8 m
Spacing of Purlin = 1.2 m
Self Weight of Roofing = 60 kg/`m^2`
Wind Pressure Intensity = 150 kg `/m^2`
Slope of Rafter(`theta`) = 15`degree`
Live Load = 75 kg/`m^2`
Self Weight of Purlin = 100 kg/m
Now, Finding Total Factored Load (kN) = (Dead Load + Live Load) x Factor of Safety x 9.8 x Spacing of Purlin x Distance between Rafter
Total Factored Load = (60+75) x 1.5 x 9.8 x 1.2 x 8 = 19051.2 N = 19.0512 kN
Now, calculating Load on Each Sag Rod = (Total Factored Load/3 + Load due to Self Weight of Purlin/3) x `sin(15)`
Therefore, Load on Each Sag Rod = 2.3199 kN = 2319.9 N
Since, We know load on threaded rod is tension force,
therefore, Design Tension Force (Tdn) = `(0.9*Net Area* fu)/1.25`
Tdn = 0.9 * An * fu/1.25
An = (Tdn * 1.25)/(0.9*fu) ..................Let fu = 250MPa
An = 12.88 `mm^2`
Since, An = `pi/4*d^2`
Therefore, Diameter of Sag Rod = 4.049 mm < 16 mm
Hence, we will provide Sag Rod of 16 mm.
Result: We will provide Sag Rod of Diameter = 16 mm.
Solution.3)
Aim: Design of Single Angle Member for the given Loading Conditions.
Procedure:

Result: Hence ISA 150X150X12 is safe under given loading conditions and satisfy slenderness condition.
