Week 2 Bevel Gear Challenge

Bevel gear

Objective:

To perform grid dependency test with bevel gear four different mesh sizes.

Grid dependency test:

The grid dependency test is which analysis begins with the coarse mesh and is made finer for each run until the results do not change significantly.

Procedure:

First, we need to open model in space claim and remove unwanted surfaces for the stimulation

now we have to create contact between the pinion gear as contact and we get as target.

After fixing the contact now we have to define joints for the gear. Rotary joints is given to the pinion and the big gear as a moment.

After the above procedure is done the parameter is set to be given to perform grid dependency test.

Total deformation

Equivalent stress

Equivalent strain

Conclusion:

The above parameter table shows the result of the grid dependency test for the following mesh sizes 6,5 and 4mm.
