Week 14 challenge
OBJECTIVE:-
To design a butterfly valve and apply GD&T to it's components and final assembly BY using Siemens NX-CAD.
INTRODUCTION:-
A butterfly valve belongs to the quarter-turn valve family of valves. When the disc is turned a quarter turn, the valve is fully open or closed in operation. The "butterfly" is actually a metal disc that is fixed to a rod. The disc is rotated to completely block the channel when the valve is closed.Where there is a lack of space, butterfly valves are used. Butterfly valves, in contrast to gate valves, can be utilised in both the completely open and fully closed positions as well as for throttling or regulating flow. Compared to a gate valve, a butterfly valve has a lower pressure loss. There are three primary varieties of butterfly valves: zero, double, and triple offset. There are numerous international standards that define the symbols and establish the GD&T guidelines. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Y14.5 is one such standard. This article is based on that standard; however, other standards, such as those developed by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), may differ slightly. The Y14.5 standard has the advantage of containing a reasonably comprehensive set of GD&T standards in a single document. In comparison, ISO standards normally address only one topic at a time.
COMPONENTS ARE IN THE BUTTERFLY VALVE:-
- Body
- Shaft
- Retainer
- Disc Plate
- Lever Handle
- Nut
