Week 12:Project-1-Meshing of Door Inner Panel Challenge
Project - Meshing of a door inner panel
OBJECTIVE
The aim of this project is to generate the mid surface and to generate the mesh on the given component in accordance with the given quality criteria and assign a thickness to it.

PROCEDURE
- The given CAD model is imported using the import option.
- Then, the component is visually checked to confirm whether it's a plastic or sheet metal component.
- The thickness of every feature is measured using the F4 ( distance ) option.

Fig, represents the thickness measurement on a feature
- Since every feature has a varying thickness it is confirmed that the given component is plastic.
- Then, a manual mid surface for every feature is generated by measuring the feature thickness.

Fig, represents the manual mid surface for every feature
- Then, the ribs are extended to the surface by using the extend option, which is present inside the surface edit option.
- After, manual mid-surfacing is done the geometrical clean-up is done for the entire component.
- Some unwanted lines and free edges inside the component are fixed by using the equivalence option.
- Before meshing, the entire component is split into four parts by using trim with a surface option which is present inside the surface edit panel.
- The geometry is splitted in such a way to ensure the proper mesh flow inside the component.
- The features like the dog house are captured by splitting the feature in a cross sign and the plane is created and subsequently, mid surfaces are generated for the dog house.

- The ribs are extended using the extend option which is present in the surface edit panel.

Fig, represents the extension of the ribs to the surface.
- Then, the entire component is meshed with the target element length of 4 mm.

- Then, the quality errors such as warpage, max angle quad, min, and max size are fixed by using options such as element optimize, translate, and distance option respectively.

- Finally, the final quality check is done to ensure that the entire component is meshed according to the given quality criteria.
- Finally, the free edges are checked for the component.
- It has been observed that the given component has successfully passed the quality criteria with zero errors.
- After the meshing is done in the component, every feature thickness is measured and the component is created for every feature along with property.
- For every feature, the property( thickness) is assigned to the component and the elements are organized in every created component.

Fig, represents the creation of components and assigning of properties for every feature.
RESULTS
- Thus , the midsurface for the given component is generated successfully and meshed according to the given quality criteria criteria.
