Week-11 : Discretization of 3D intake manifold using GEM-3D
- Single cyl DI add case 2 with discretization length 0.1 mm for intake runner and compare with default case 1
Firstly, we going to open the model 1cyIDI-Final, and run as standard to see what we got as parameters.

Opening the model

Geometry engine details

We`re going to run the model with 3600RPM with standard discretization size 40 mm and 0.1 mm for comparation
- Parameters -Torque, BSFC, max cylinder pressure

We did not find any big divergency in any of these parameters
- simulation time

The smallest discretization size we found a value of 3819.15 times slower than the standard settings.

Factor of a Real time chart

Case 1 average time step = 0.973 deg

Case 2 average time step = 0.004 deg
IMPORTANT: Its very important always to be very aware about the simulation discretization time. Its by standard use as discretization size using (0,4*bore diameter).
- Exploring GEM 3D

Exporting Plenum from the data examples

Separating by curves

After separating by curves command

Creating the intern volume by deleting the surface areas from the model

Meshing sections

Intern volume created

Separating the pipes from the plenum using 3 points cutting plane from convert menu. After we must convert that 4 intake runners to some other shape that the software could work in it.
