Braking energy
OBJECTIVE-1:
To calculate the energy required for braking for a duty cycle.
The user defined drive cycle for the 100s is created and attached with the script file also calculated the braking energy needed for the duty cycle.
In the m file the instantaneous brake energy of the duty cycle is calculation and plotted as graph.
Formula used for the calculation of braking energy:
E=½*m*v2 (used when the vehicle slows down)
m- mass of vehicle
v-velocity of vehicle

The braking energy needed for the drive cycle is 19,180 kj

OBJECTIVE-2:
To explain: Why can't electric motors develop braking torque at high speed similar to starting
DUE TO THE LIMITATION OF MOTOR:
The peak acceleration torque of the motor may not be equal to the peak acceleration torque of motor
Reason: at high speed the motor is operating in field weakening region. In the field weakening region the motor torque is limited by the voltage applied
How electric and mechanical brakes are coordinated?
In most of the EV & HEV follows the combined braking operation
Series operation:
In the series operation the electric brake and mechanical brake are applied one after another .Only one brake can be employed at the time.
Parallel operation:
In the parallel operation the electric brake and mechanical brake are applied simultaneously .Here both the brakes can be employed at the time of operation.
Some vehicle uses intelligent braking like electric drive intelligent braking. In the intelligent braking the percentage of electric and mechanical braking may vary time to time.

OBJECTIVE-3:
To plots contour of given motor speed, torque and efficiency
