Week 11- Assembly Workbench

Design and Assembly of Quick return Mechanism and CV joint

Quick Return Mechanism: This mechanism is used to where the rotary inputs is provided to get into the reciprocating motion as the output. They were achived by constraining the relative motion of the links as per requirements enables the quicker retraction of the reciporocating link or the output link which abruptly reduce the idle time of the machine and improve the output.

CV-Joint: CV Joint is a coupling which is used to transmit power from the transmission to the wheels at constant velocity. This joint were made in such a way that can accommodate the up and down movement of the wheels due to the pits and holes on the roads these joint are called Ball type CV Joint.

QUICK RETURN MECHANISM MODEL BY USING CATIA

BASE: In the quick retuen mechanism base is a supportive for the other components

Slotted Lever: This part provide the slider motion which are attached to it.

sketch is created as per the dimension it should be Iso constrained

Swiniging Arm: This part provide the output folowing to the slider which are attached to the slotted lever.

Sketch is created as per the dimension, the sketch should be Iso constrained.

Slider: This part is attached to the slotted lever withe the help the swining arm it slide along the slotted lever.

Sketch should be Iso constrained

Cylinder slider: This part is slide along the slotted lever and is is connetached to swining arm.

Assembly for Quick return Mechanism

1.Base part is considered as a Fix components, providing a coincidence constraint along the sloted lever hole axis with the base part axis.

2. Slotted lever is constraint with the base part using a coincidence constraint along the axis, and providing a contact face constraint to the base part and slotted lever.

3.Slider and Cylinderical slider is constraint with the hole in the slotted lever along axis, and providing the contact face constraint to it.
