Week 10 Bullet penetrating a Bucket Challenge
Objective: The Objective of this challenge is to perform the Explicit Analysis on Bullet Penetrating the Bucket System using three different Non-linear Materials for the Bucket.
Geometry:

We have made the behavior of the bullet as rigid as we do not interested in the bullet.
Materials: The Materials used for this analysis are Aluminium Alloy NL, Stainless Steel NL, and Copper Alloy NL
The properties of these materials are given below.
Aluminium Alloy:

Copper Alloy:

Stainless Steel Alloy:

Mesh:
We have meshed the component using yet mesh with body sizing of 6 mm and edge sizing of 5 mm. We want fine mesh at the edge of the bucket as the bullet is penetrating through the edges.

Analysis Settings: We have given the end time of simulation as 0.01 sec. with following Analysis Settings.

Boundary Conditions:
1) Fixed Support:
We have fixed the bucket.

2) Velocity:
We have given the velocity of 139 mm/sec. the bullet.

Results:
Case1: Aluminium Alloy NL:

Case2: Copper Alloy NL:

2) Equivalent Stress:

3) Equivalent Strain:

Conclusion: We have successfully simulated the bullet penetrating bucket system. Results and conclusions are given below.
| Material | Max. Total Deformation(in mm) | Max.Equivalent Stress (in MPa) | Max. Equivalent Strain (in mm/mm) |
| Aluminium Alloy | 1390.7 | 421.74 | 1.8094 |
| Copper Alloy | 1414 | 1359.9 | 2.0441 |
| Stainless Steel | 1396.7 | 1754.8 | 1.9699 |
1) Maximum Deformation, Copper alloy > Stainless Steel > Aluminium Alloy.
2) Maximum Stress, Stainless Steel > Copper Alloy > Aluminium Alloy.
3) Maximum Strain, Copper Alloy > Stainless Steel > Aluminium Alloy
