Challenge

Week 6- Challenge

Objective:

The Objective of this challenge is to mesh the given component using automesh option and maintain the quality of meshing within the given range.

CAD Image:

The given CAD modelis hood shown in fig.below.

It has five different components namely,

Inner body , Outer body ,hinge1, Hinge2 and Latch .shown in fig. below

Procedure For Meshing:

Take every componet individualy one by one,and extract the midsurface of every element.cleanup the geometry. While cleaning up make sure there should not any unwanted lines whose distance is less than the min, element size as those will results in failing the elements for min.size.

After Cleaning the geometry go to 2D> Automesh, set the targeted element size and mesh the surface.

once u mesh the surface check for following points

1) Two tria elements should not touch with each other

2) tria elements should not touch the feature lines and free lines

3) There should not be opposite tria in the meshed area.

If tou find anyting like that solve this by remeshing repeatedly.

Once you clear this, no go to 2D> Quality Index , before that set all parameters for quality in preferances

Once you set the quality parameters and enter into the quality index, you will find the elements failing for repective criteria like min. size, max. size, etc to solve this chose cleanup tools and chose one of the option out off, Element Optimize, Place node, split quad, drag tria etc and get rid of those elements.

some of the components are shown in fig. below

Symillarly do for all the components.

Final meshed Model is component is shown in fig below.

Conclusion:

Here we understand How to aplly 2D mesh accuratly and get it within the criteria.
