Challenge

Week 10 Bullet penetrating a Bucket Challenge

Aim: To simulate a bullet penetrating a bucket and to use 3 different nonlinear materials for the bucket and analyze their behavior for the same velocity of the bullet.

Procedure:

The analysis we are doing is an Explicit Dynamic Analysis, Select Explicit Dynamic from the ANSYS workbench

Open Engineering Data and from the Engineering services Titanium alloy NL, Aluminium Alloy NL, and Stainless steel NL are selected for the Bucket, and tantalum is selected for the bullet

(Aluminium Alloy NL)

(Stainless steel NL)

(Titanium Alloy NL)

(Tantalum)

Since the model is already provided we import the model in the geometry SpaceClaim, The model provided is shown below

Once the Geometry is updated select the model option and click Edit

Delete the contacts as this is explicit dynamics analysis and mesh the component

The Bucket and bullet mesh size of 6mm is selected

The bottom face of the model is fixed

For the Displacement, the bullet is selected
