Objective: Static Analysis of Spur Gear using ductile material to identify stress, strain and contact pressure using Ansys.
Case Setup and Execution: CAD Model of spur gear is obtained from the open source. Material is assigned as cast iron from library and Cast steel and bronze- cast which are manually defined from the engineering data as show in figure 1 and figure 2.

Automatic mesh with element size 1mm is defined to create the fine mesh. Revolute joint is created for both the driving and driven gear with reference to the ground body. Six control steps for analysis is provided which is defined by time step of minimum as 0.05s and maximum time step as 0.5 s. Joints load are provided as rotation motion to driven gear and moment to driving gear for each step of analysis.
The results are generated for both the cases for finding out Equivalent stress, Total deformation, Stress intensity and position of possible fatigue failure.
