Week 1 Challenge
Answer-1
Aim- Find out which truss is most efficient in carrying gravity load in both.
Observation- Truss A is the Pratt truss and Truss B is Howe truss.
Pratt Truss- This truss is having vertical members between the upper and lower members and diagonal members sloping toward to center. In Pratt truss vertical members in compression and diagonal member in tension upon the applied of gravity load at the joint of top horizontal member.
Howe Truss- This truss is looking opposite of Pratt truss in geometry, if looking a Howe truss down to up he is looking Pratt truss. In Howe truss vertical members are tension and diagonal members in compression.
Pratt truss can have more unloaded member than Howe truss.
This reason Pratt Truss is most efficient in carrying gravity loads, so answer is Truss A.
