Week 3-Assignment 3-Module 3

Aim: To calculate the Seismic Loading Parameters of a five-storey building having a 5 translational DOF. Specific requirements that needs to be calculated for this exercise are listed below;

• L_n, M_n and G_n for each of the five modes.
• M_n* (effective modal mass) and the modal mass participating ratio for each of the five modes.
• Base shear for each of the five modes of vibration and the combined base shear as per the SRSS rule.
• Also to find out on how many modes are to be considered needed to obtain a 90% modal mass participating ratio.
