Underbody Coating
UNDERBODY COATING:
- Underbody coating is usually a dense cladding (often based on rubber) applied uniformly to the undercarriage of the automobile.
- It is normally sprayed or painted on when the car is just out of the dealership and is clean.
-Underbody coating provides long term protection from corrosion to car’s underbody.
- Underbody coating is also called as underseal. It protects the car belly from corrosion like rusting. It even protects the underbody from being chipped always by stones and humps.
- This will create a rustproof layer between the underside if the vehicle and the water on the road.

Types of Undercoating:
- Rubberized Underbody Coating
- Wax Based Underbody Coating
- Asphalt Based Automotive Undercoating
- Polyurethane Underbody Coating
- Rubberized underbody coating
This is widely considered to be the best underbody coating for your car. It protects the underbody from scratches and keeps it properly. Rubber underbody coating is a coating of rubber which will protect the body from scratch and water splash. It’s also not difficult to apply this to the undercarriage.it fully dried in 24 hrs. The professional grade undercoating dries to the touch in 10 min. Some rubber coating brands are 3m, bondo, SEM and much more.

- Wax based underbody coating
This coating will last for few months. Wax based underbody coating puts up the fight against moisture. This transitory undercoating will, on the whole, fade away after a few months. On the plus side, wax-based undercoating is resistant to dampness. As wax coating is cheap but wax dose poor job sticking to metal so it needed to be reapplied soon sometimes in months.

- Asphalt based automotive underbody coating
Suitable for lorries, trucks, and other heavy vehicles. In comparison to rubber-based coatings, this gives a higher level of protection. Asphalt-based coatings, on the other hand, incorporate a small quantity of rubber for sound insulation.Asphalt-based undercoating generally contains a little bit of rubberized material that sets up firmly and also helps soften noise.Generally sold in five gallon containers, this type of undercoating also needs more cure time than the other three, and is NOT paintable, making it best to use only for undercarriages.

- Polyurethane underbody coating
This covering seals breaks and fractures in the vehicle’s underbody. It provides strong corrosion resistance and also binds to the metal. Unlike an asphalt-based coating, the polyurethane coating may be painted over. The other option for undercoating your vehicle is to use Polyurethane based sealant This type of vehicle undercoating is a little bit quicker and easier to apply. This will take 30 min to touch dry and 6hrs. to fully dry.

Pros:
- Fight Rust

-It will also give some strength to the body depend upon the thickness of the coating
-It will prevent vibration and noise of the vehicle
-Stop spreading of rust if it is already started and save the body from any further damage
-It keeps underbody clean and dust free
-Make easy to clean underbody in case of mud
Cons:
- Surface need to cleaned properly before applying the coating
- Need to be dried properly
- For all coating has a specific time period for lasting so it needs to be reapplied after that period of time
- In rubber-based coating if there is tear in coating it needs to reapplied to the body where as on other coating it can be fixed by over coating
