Structural analysis of a buidling using Robot Structural Analysis

Q1.ANS:

  • HVAC stands for heating. ventilation and air conditioning. This system provides heating and cooling to residential and commercial buildings. You can find HVAC systems anywhere from singel-family homes to submarines where they provide the means for environmental comfort. Becoming more and more popular in new constrution, these systems use fresh air from outdoors to provide high indoor air quality. The V in HVAC is the process of replacing or exchanging air within a space. This provide a better quality of air indoors and invloves the removal of moisture, smoke, odours as well as temperature control.
  • HVAC systems are responsible for the regulation of heat, ventilation and air conditioning of an entire building. You wont see the machines when you enter the building but you most certainly feel te effects of a comfortable and well-ventilated workplace.

HVAC are essential for the following reasons:

  • HVAC system control the overall climate in the building. they also make the proper adjustments whenever we experience changes in outdoor temperature.
  • Having a comfortable office climate increases the level of productivity and increases morale amongst the workers and employees. Having a proper HVAC installed is guaranteed to make your employess happy and in return giving better results.
  • HVAC systems not only regulate the temperature inside the building. they also improve the quality of air. The quality of air pertains to humidity and a typical HVAC system will reduce the amount of humidity in tha air.
  • Proper HVAC systems are a worthy investment for any business or building owner because it gives you energy saving. HVAC are automated which means you no longer have to manually adjust the temperature setting. This makes your energy consumption more efficient as it gets rid of energy wasted on improper settings.

Q2. ANS:

Aim: To desing a HVAC system for the residential building including distribution centre, collector, ducts and blower.

Procedure:

Step 1: Open the mechanical template and link the architectural model which is done before.

Step 2: Architectural model is linked with the mechanical template.

Step 3: Click on systems tab. Select air terminal from the ribbon and put it in required locations.

Step 4: Now select supply diffuser and return diffuser and place it accordingly.

Step 5: Now click on mechanical equipment and select the air handling unit.

Step 6: Place the air handling unit in the required place so that no clashes with wall takes place.

Step 7: Now select the air terminal, diffuser and air handling unit and create a duct system.

AIM: Load Plug-ins for robot structure analysis to the revit software.

Procedure:

Step 1: Open the Structural template.

Step 2: Add the structural analysis toolkit using the cart.

Step 3: Click on the search tab and type the structural analysis toolkit and select the appropriate version and install the file.

Step 4: Robot structure analysis will be added to the revit software.

Result: Plug-ins for the robot structure analysis has been added.

Q.4 Ans

  • Structural analysis is the process of calculating the frames, moments and deflections to which the members in a structure are to be subjected. There is a vast range of the analysis tools offering the speed, precision and economy of the design, 3-D, FE modelling, bespokes portal frames, cellular beam or plate girder design software are now widely available. Modelling catenary actions, cold framed members performance or grillage analysis - all these are now commonplace fro structures, where hand analysis is impossible. Increasingly sophisticated analysis methods are continue to improve the accuracy with which the behaviour of the structure can be predicted.
  • To perform an accurate analysis a structural engineer must determine the information such as structural loads, geometry, support conditions and material properties. The results of such an analysis typically include supports reactions, stresses and displacements. This information is then compare to criteria that indicates the condition of failure. Advanced structural analysis may examine dynmic response, stability and non-linear behaviour. There are three approaches to the analysis; the mechanics of materials approach (also known as the strength of material), the elasticity theory approach (which is actually a special case of the more general field of continum mechanism), and the finite element approach. THe first two makes use of the analytical formulations which apply mostly simpl linear elastic model, leading to closed-form solutions, and can be often be solved by hand. The finite element approach is actually a numerical method for solving differential equations generated by theories of mechanics such as elasticity theory and strength of materials. However, the finite-element method depends heavily on the processing power of the computers and is more applicable to structures of the arbitrary size and complecity.

Q.5 Ans

AIM: To export the complete analytical model to robot structure analysis from the structural model developed in week 6 and 7.

Procedure:

Step 1: Open the structural model. Go to Manage tab -> Go to Structural setting.

Step 2: Now add the boundary conditions to the analytical model.

Step 3: Go to the Load option and apply the loads from analyze toolbar to the model.

Step 4: Export the analytical model to the robot structural analysis.

Step 5: The Integration with Robot Structure analysis window will be open and Click ok.

Step 6: There is an error for exporting the analytical model to the structure analysis, It means the model is not export to the Robot structure analysis.

  • Performance energy analysis on the building design through all stages, from the earliest conceptual phase through detailed dsign, to ensure that you are constantly working towards the most energy efficient building possible. Energy simulation can help you analyze the movement of energy in, out and through the rooms and volume in the building models. This information can help designer make better informed, cost-effective decisions that improves the performance and reduce the environmental impact to building energy simulation measures expected energy use (fuel and electricity) based on the building's geometry, climate, building type, envelopes properties, and active system (HVAC & Lighting). It takes into account the interdependencies of the building as a whole systems. Use enegry analysis to perform energy simulation for conceptual forms and detailed architectural model created in Revit. Use the simulation for the result to understand the building energy use. Then iterate the designs to improve their sustainability ratings. The energy model created from the Revit buildings model can be displayed in Revit, so you can view and validate the energy model used for analysis. The energy model can be also be exported to third-party applications for further analysis in a varierty of common formats: gbXML, DOE2 and energy plus.
  • Sustainable design deals with the philosophy of having built and designed objects, buidings, environment and services that conforms with the many principles of ecological sustainability. This includes maintaining changes in a hameostatic environment where the use of resourse, inclination and the direction of development are balanced that not only meets the needs of humunity. Simply put, sustainable design represents development that not only meets the current and future needs of the present but does so without compromising the ability of the future generations to meet their own needs. Ways to approach sustainable design include utilizing sustainable chemical engineering, responsible resourse management, and holistic environment protection.
