Sketch a G+1 residential plan according to Vaastu Shastra and Calculation of Loads as per IS code

AIM

To sketch the G+1 floor residual plan according to Vastu Shastra and to list down the names of structural drawings required to be provided to the site for construction and calculations of loads are to done.

INTRODUCTION

To assume the size of structural elements(column,beam,slab etc) and to calculate the loads from the members as per IS Code.

Dimensions of Ground Floor Plan

Living Room - 4.2m*6.45m

Kitchen Room - 4.2m*3.0m

Dining Room - 3m*3m

Master Bedroom - 4.6m*3.0m

Bed Room - 3m*5m

Toilet - 3.25m*1.2m

Bath Room - 2.4m*1.2m

WC - 1.2m*1.0m

Dimensions of First Floor Plan

Guest Room - 4.6m*3.0m

Study Room - 3m*3m

Bed Room - 3.0m*4.5m

Toilet - 3.25m*1.2m

Bath Room - 2.4m*1.2m

WC - 1.2m*1.0m

Other Dimensions

Thickness of Internal Wall -0.2m

Thickness of External Wall -0.28m

Thickness of Slab -0.25m

Dimensions of Column -0.3m*0.3m

Dimensions of Beam -0.3m*0.45m

Height of Wall of Each Floor -3.5m

Vastu Shastra Followed during Planning is:

  • Entrance of the house is provided in the east direction which is the symbol of progrss in life.
  • Living room is placed in North East direction.
  • Master Bedroom is placed in South West position , the direction brings good health and prosperity.
  • Kitchen is placed in South East direction.
  • Study room is placed in East direction.
  • Stair case is placed in North West direction.
  • Bathroom,WC and Toilet is placed in West direction.

PROCEDURE

Calculations of loads

A.Dead load calculations:

1.Dead load of columns

Dimension of column= 0.3*0.3m

Height of column=(slab thickness*2)+(height of wall for each floor*2)

=(0.25*2)+(3*2)=6.5m

Total volume of concrete= 0.3*0.3*6.5=0.585cubic metre

Unit weight of RCC =25KN/cubic metre

Unit weight of building materials used in construction works as per IS 875(part-1)

Dead load of column=25*0.585=14.62KN

2.Dead load of beams

Dimensions of beam =0.3*0.45m

Total volume of concrete=0.3*0.45*1=0.135cubic metre

Unit weight of RCC =25KN/cubic metre

Dead load 0f beam =25*0.135=3.375KN

3.Dead load of slab

Slab is always designed for thespan of 1m

Asssume size of slab =1.2*1.2m=1.44

Thickness of slab =0.25m

Self weight of slab =1.44*0.25*25=9KN

4.Dead load of walls

a.Load of external walls

Thickness =0.28m

Unit weight of external wall=20KN/cubic metre

Unit weight of building materialsused in construction orks as per 875(part-1)

Height of wall=3.5m

Load of wall on beam=3.5*0.28*20=19.6KN

b.Load of internal walls

Thickness of wall=0.2m

Unit weight of brick wall=20KN/cubic metre

Height of wall=3.5m

Load of wall on beam=3.5*0.20*20=14KN

Dead load is based on IS 875:1987 (part 1)

Reinforced concrete is based on IS 456:2000

B.Live load calculations

Bedroom =2KN/sqm

Livingroom =2KN/sqm

Bathroom=2KN/sqm

Toilet=2KN/sqm

Studyroom=2KN/sqm

Kitchen=2KN/sqm

Terrace=3KN/sqm

Staircase=3KN/sqm

Live load is based on IS 875:1987 (part 2)

C.Wind load calculations

Wind load is considered when the height of building is more than 10m.

Height of designed building is 7.5m

So, the calculation of wind load is not required.

Wind load is based on IS 875:1987 (part 3)

RESULT

  • The plan is prepared by Vaastu Shastra concept considering all the principles and considerations.
  • The load calculations are done as per IS code considerations
