Sketch a G+1 residential plan according to Vaastu Shastra and Calculation of Loads as per IS code
Sketch a G+1 floor residential plan, according to Vaastu Shastra, and list down the names of the structural drawings required to be provided to the site for construction. Also, assume the sizes of the structural elements (Column, Beam, Slab, etc.,) and accordingly calculate the individual corresponding loads from the members as per IS code.
Introduction:-
In this project I will draw a plan according to Vaastu Shastra for a G+1 residential building. Also I will explain each and every details regarding vaastu shastra according to the position of room. In this project, I have calculated dead load of this G+1 residential building components like- column, beam, slab, walls etc., along with live load. Total area of ground floor is 480 square meter and total area of first floor is also 480 square meter. I have assumed the size of column, beam, slab and wall during the calculation of dead load of structure. Moreover, I have calculated live load and wind load as per respective IS codes.
Aim of Projet:-
- Draw a sketch of ground floor and first floor of a residential building according to Vaastu Shastra.
- Describe the importance of direction of rooms and other building components as per Vaastu Shastra.
- List for the names of the structural drawings required to be provided to the site for construction.
- Calculation of live load, wind load according to respective IS codes.
- Calculation of dead load as per assumed data.
Detailed steps for this Project:-
#Vaastu Shastra:-
Vaastu Shastra is the ancient Indian science of architecture and acts as a guideline to design your home in the way that enhances positive energy. Our nature is abundant with powerhouses of energy sources like- sun, wind, moon, water, earth and fire. Effect of sunrays, flow of winds, pull of earth's magnetic field and other such cosmic energies effect houses accordingly. A good home needs to radiate the right kind of energy. A person dwelling in a house comes under the influence of a specific energy field which comes under the influence of specific energy field. Architectural changes are not possible for a ready to move in house.

Fig1.1- Position of various rooms according to vastu concept
There are four cardinal directions- North, South, East and West, and four intercardinal direction North-east, North-west, South-east and South-west. Each direction signifies an aspect of life and is governed byvarious gods.
- North direction= Wealth
- South direction= Dharma.
- West and East= Overall Prosperity.
Basic principales of Vatu Shastra:-
- Shape:- Rooms should be preferably be square or rectangle.
- Room Basics:- Rooms should be airy, well lit, bright and clean.
- Home center:- Center of the house should be an emepty space.
- Stairs and Furniture:- Heavy furniture should be kept in the south-west direction.
- Water:- Avoid keeping plants and waterfeatures in the bedroom.
- Dining Table:- Dining space should be near the kitchen and not near the main door.
- Mirror Placement:- Mirror facing the bed is strictly not allowed. Mirror in the bed room need to be placed in such a way that the bed can not be seen.
Auspicious direction as per vastu Shastra:-
I have attached drawings from my drawn sketch-
- Kitchen:- South-east is the best and North-west to be avoided.

- Staircase:- South-west is the best and North-east to be avoided.

- Toilet:- North-west is the best and west is also good, but North-east to be avoided.

- Master bedroom:- South-west is best.

- Guest-room:- North-west is the best.

- Living room:- North-west is the best and east is also good. A bright picture of sunrise in the sothern wall is very good.

- Over head tank:- West is the best.

- Gateway(Entrance) of the house:- The main door should be constructed in a way to ensure that when you step out, you face the north, east or in the North-east direction. Avoid painting the main door black and placing of animal structures near the door. Best position of entrance is North-east/east/south of south-east/west of north-west.

- Bed room:- Bed room in the south-west direction brings good health and prosperity. Avoid north-east direction as it may cause health issues. Avoid south-east zone as it may cause quarrel among couple. Bed should be placed in the south-west corner of the bed-room with head facing west. Avoid having painting depicting water or a fountain as it could cause emotional out-burst. Never sleep with your head in the north. Avoid overturning beams in the room to enjoy good health. Paint the bedroom walls in neutral or earthy shades that radiates positive energy. Bedrooms are the place for rest and it's good to have soothing wall colours for a peaceful aura.

- Puja/worship Room:- East or North-east part of your home is perfect meditation, Yoga and spiritual pursuits. Facing east when you meditate will increase positivity. White, light yellow or green are great colour option for meditation room.

- Kitchen:- It ensures a healthy life for your family growth. Keep water sink away from the gas stove. Fridge needs to be placed at south-west corner. Never let your kitchen face a washroom wall nor share a common wall with it.

- Study Room:- Select a square or rectangular shape for the study table. Don't place the table facing a blank wall or window. Placing a table in the north-east, east or west direction is ideal. Hanging book shelves are best to be avoided.
